Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr Automotive Executive Recruiter at Automotive Search Group Company: Automotive CPA Firm Overview A well-established Automotive CPA firm in Central Illinois is seeking an Accountant – Dealer Services to join its expanding Corporate Dealership Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Automotive Corporate Controller looking to transition out of the retail grind and into a stable, long‑term role with a respected accounting firm serving automotive dealer clients. Position Summary The Accountant – Dealer Services will work to support dealership clients on accounting best practices. The CPA Firm works to deliver comprehensive tax, assurance, and advisory services to auto dealerships. The person hired will work directly with Dealer Principals and their accounting teams (Office Managers & Controllers) to ensure schedules and balance sheets are accurate, financial statements are clean, and potential tax write‑offs are identified. The role reports directly to the firm’s CPA Partners and offers strong professional development and career growth opportunities. Key Responsibilities Gain a thorough understanding of the firm’s existing clients and service offerings. Perform review or compilation procedures for dealership clients. Prepare corporate, partnership, and individual income tax returns. Review client trial balances, schedules, and reconciliations. Prepare adjusting journal entries and financial statements. Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation and amortization. Perform additional accounting and tax duties as needed on engagements. Assist senior associates, managers, directors, and partners as required. Depending on experience, responsibilities may include supervisory duties, project management, and direct client interaction. Handle confidential business information with discretion. Analyze challenges, identify solutions, and follow through to resolution. Effectively prioritize and manage workload. Travel to client offices, meetings, and seminars using a personal vehicle. Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to cope effectively with change. Take initiative to complete work accurately and efficiently while adapting to shifting priorities. Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and maintain positive client relationships. Qualifications Strong background in automotive dealership accounting (Controller or similar experience preferred). CPA designation a plus, but not required. Proven ability to analyze financial statements, maintain clean schedules, and identify improvement opportunities. Professional, articulate, and detail-oriented. Demonstrated stability and long-term success in previous roles. Work Schedule Tax Season (Jan 15 – Mar 15): Six-day work week. Off Season: Flexible 30‑hour work week. Competitive compensation package in the $150,000 – $200,000 range based on experience. Relocation Serious relocation candidates with relevant dealership accounting experience will be considered.
