About the Role:

The Janitor plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all individuals within the facility. This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks that ensure the overall hygiene and functionality of the premises. The Janitor will work diligently to uphold safety procedures and standards, particularly in settings that cater to early childhood development. By effectively managing janitorial duties, the Janitor contributes to the overall positive experience of visitors and staff alike. Ultimately, this role is essential in fostering a healthy and pleasant atmosphere for everyone who utilizes the space.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in a commercial setting.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an early childhood setting.
• Familiarity with stainless steel cleaning techniques and products.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing various areas of the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of restrooms, classrooms, and common areas, ensuring they meet health and safety standards.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and materials as needed to ensure efficient operations.
• Adhere to safety procedures and protocols while using cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas. Polishes fixtures, metal work, surfaces and trim.
• Sweeps and mops floors. Vacuums rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture.
• Dust furniture and equipment.
• Washes windows, walls, door panels, sink, toilets and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets and transports trash/waste to disposal area.
• Replenish bathroom and break room supplies.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities and you must be able to work under no supervision.
• Specific duties may vary depending on the list of specifications required by the client.
• Lock doors, turns out lights, and checks alarms where necessary.
• You will work evening/night shifts, after 3 pm. 3-5 hours nightly.
• Total hours per week will be 12-20 hours
• Safety training and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Skills:

The required skills are essential for executing daily cleaning and maintenance tasks effectively. Knowledge of safety procedures ensures that all cleaning activities are conducted without risk to oneself or others. Experience in landscaping contributes to the aesthetic appeal of the facility, enhancing the overall environment. Familiarity with janitorial duties in commercial buildings allows for efficient management of larger spaces. Preferred skills, such as working in early childhood settings, help the Janitor understand the specific needs of the environment, ensuring that cleanliness standards are tailored to the safety and health of young children.

Physical Requirements

• Must stand & walk, 67-100% of job. Employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel & reach with hands & arms. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, 34-66% of job.
• Must occasionally lift, pull, push to 25 pounds to waist height, 34-66% of job.
• Must bend & have a full range of body motion 34-66% of job.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
